Ryokan Hanagokoro - renewal in March 2024

The rooms and onsen were lovely as well as the lady looking after us. Reception staff made us feel unwelcome. Would not recommend.The onsen, room and meal were amazing. The lady looking after us was lovely.However, the reception staff were rude and unwelcoming. We were not allowed to enter early even though it was raining heavily. They were very strict about timings for meals and check-out.We checked out three minutes late and were treated rudely. They telephoned us repeatedly to leave and escorted us out of the building, which made us feel like criminals.Our shoes were soaked. The hotel’s strict rules made the experience unpleasant despite the otherwise inspiring setting

If you want to relax it is just the place for you/you, you are warmly welcomed by the staff professionally. they stand and receive a self at the entrance where you should take off your shoes and get delivered indoor shoes that you should wear on there, me and my friend was led to a sofa with views over the mountains. we only managed to sit it for just 2-3 minutes before a ladies in kimono showed us to our room (Japanese style room) which also had views of the mountains, we thought only that we were going to our room, but we were also shown to our private Onsen (a traditional Japanese hot spring and bath facilities built around). The food is well prepared and fresh in the taste. your flavoring onions will be exposed to a fantastic food trip, ranging from fish to Miso soup and much more. In the morning I would definitely recommend to try their traditional Japanese breakfast which is super delicious. From the place of stay you have the opportunity to get further up the mountain as recommended, so don't hesitate to take the Hakone Ropeway all the way to Tōgendai where you have the opportunity to get out on a beautiful sailing trip on Lake Ashinoko on a Pirate ship. After a day out in the mountains you come back to the place of stay and are again received by the staff who is ready with indoor shoes for us and ask if we could like us a cup of coffee or tea. We could barely get into our room before one of the ladies in kimono came in with tea for us as well as Mochi, and as if it wasn't enough they came in with fresh kimono for us. The place can just something, and we can barely get to say a pip to the staff before they are ready to help one. If I get the opportunity to come back to them then I do it, it was just absolutely fantastic, it can really warmly recommend

As the inn only had eight rooms, it was quiet and I was able to relax. The private bath was on the rooftop, and I was able to use it many times without having to worry about the temperature of the water. If I had to say one thing, it might be difficult for elderly people to use it, as there are a lot of stairs to go up and down. It was also disappointing that the drinks menu and room service alcohol were out of stock. Apparently they will be undergoing renovation work from December. I would like to try it when it is new.
