We thought to overnight in downtown Yokohama, but couldn’t find a cheap accommodation. That’s why we stayed in this hotel. As a chain hotel, Toyoko Inn has the same service standard everywhere in Japan. It is not luxurious, but clean and reliable. This one in Shinkoyasu is just 5 minutes’ walk from JR and Keikyu stations.

I've written about Toyoko Inn Hotels before but haven't stayed at this one. As in previous reviews, Toyoko Inn Chain is one of the best business hotels in the country. They have properties and almost all minor and major train stations. Usually all are within a 2-3 block area from the train station. You can join their membership for about 15.00 (One-time fee) and receive membership discounts. They have smoking and non-smoking floors, breakfast daily, vending machines in the lobbies, and are usually close to convenience stores for those late night munchies. Although the rooms are cozy, they have designed the rooms for comfort as well. All of their beds are high enough off the floor for you to store you luggage. This gives you more room. I have NOT stayed in one of these hotels that wasn't exceptionally CLEAN... Staff have always been very nice, friendly, and accommodating. You won't find a better deal anywhere in Japan (In my opinion).

I have stayed in a few Toyoko Inns in different parts of Japan, and this one is much worse than others. Located in a bad neighborhood between industrial area, railway and highway. Breakfast has less options than in other Toyoko Inns. The stuff is not friendly and for some reason decided to keep the vanity kit which made my wife really disappointed. And rooms to elevators must be avoided at any cost.
