8 minutes walk from the Kyoto station. From Kyoto station, you can reach all attractions by local bus and light rail. However, the hotel is outside the main attractions. A convenience store is attached at the ground floor. English is OK at the reception. The buffet breakfast is very good, Western and Japanese. Sashimi and fish are included. I particularly like the Japanese pickles from a hundred years old store. After 9:30PM, a free bowl of ramen is served in the breakfast area (most restaurants close at 9PM and if you miss the time window). Onsen (hot spring) is not big but has everything, cold, hot, indoor, semi-outdoor and sauna. Rest area outside has comics, popsicle (in the afternoon) and yogurt (in the morning) free. You can wear the pyjama provided in the room to the onsen which is very convenient. Within onsen, there are washer and dryer. Massage can be booked and very professional. Room is of OK size in Japan, with a sitting area, no luggage rack. A sliding door divides the sleeping area from the washing area, it reduces the sound and light when somebody is using the washroom. Room is clean and tidy. Furnitures are of older style. Shower area (no bath tub) is small but most people will enjoy the hot spring and do the bathing there. The hotel is of Japanese style. Price is reasonably cheap. Service is good.

The location is excellent—less than a 5-minute walk from the main station. We arrived early in the morning from the airport by train, walked out of the station, and spotted our hotel right across the street. We were able to drop off our bags and start exploring the city immediately. When we came back after dinner, all of our luggage had already been moved to our room, so we didn't have to haul it ourselves! We went straight to the onsen floor and took a shower without even unpacking, which was incredibly convenient since they provide soap and shampoo at the sitting showers next to the bath. Soaking there completely melted away all of our travel fatigue and chaos—the onsen really did the trick! As a wonderful bonus, there was free ice cream right by the exit. What a treat! Breakfast was also fantastic, featuring a wide variety of both Japanese and Western options. Lastly, I had an accident during the trip (completely unrelated to the hotel), and the hotel manager was incredibly helpful.

Few min walk from kyoto JR station. Room was avg but adequate, love the in house communal onsen which was big for as a small hotel, with indoor & open air baths & sauna room. Love the free ramen at nite.
