Guest House Hitsuji-an

Location was great, walking distance to train and Nijo Castle (UNESCO site) and local market. Very welcoming and helpful host, clean n comfortable bedding and quiet environment. Would highly recommend.

guesthouse Hitsujian means the sheeps guests house! it is basically a very triditional japanese house turned into a hostel. if you want to have an authentic experience you MUST stay in this hostel in Kyoto. They also have bikes for rent and allot of seven elevens near by

香港人です。京都でいくつかの宿泊を経験してきたが、ひつじ庵が一番の気に入り。これぞ旅人が求めるアットホームな宿！もっと評価されるべき。 東西線と南北に伸ばす烏丸線の交わる烏丸御池駅から徒歩８分、周りは駐車場か住宅ぐらいで、大通りからの喧騒も届かない静かな所にある。建物自体は伝統的な京町家より改修、せまい間口に深い奥行き、格子に坪庭（京町家の特徴）、京の情緒を味わうことができる。清潔感がよく、寝具はもちろん、トイレとバスルームにもクリーニングが文句なしに行き届いている。設備が充実、Wi-Fiなど生活の上に必要なものが一通り揃っている。おまけに京都観光に欠かせない足（自転車）のレンタルができる（これは大きい）。 夜の居間には宿泊者とスタッフが集まる。アットホームな雰囲気で、シャイな私でもすぐ溶け込める。みんなでゆったり食事や雑談、旅の情報交換、外国人との文化交流など、旅先とは思えない居心地の良い一時を過ごした。店長は気さくな人で、観光についての相談を持ちかけたら、我が身のことの如く考えてくれた。帰る際、私は店長に写真撮ってもらい、ひつじ庵の感想を書いた。 これは一泊何万円のホテルでもできない、京都に「帰りたい」気持ちにさせる宿泊体験。絶対リピートしたくなる。 I am from Hong Kong. Among all the accommodations in Kyoto I have been experienced, Hitsujian（ひつじ庵）is my favorite. This is the one all travelers are seeking for. It is only 8 minutes from Karasumaoike station, which is the hub of two main rail lines, Karasuma Line and Tozai Line, surrounded by Japanese houses and carparks, free from the noise from the main street. The building itself is repaired from a traditional Kyoto-style house called Machiya. The narrow front door with long interior structure, the Japanese lattice and the garden makes the Kyoto atmosphere. Interiors are clean, including bedclothes, toilet and bathroom. Most of the necessities of life, such as Wi-Fi, are also available. It is very important (to me) that it also provide bike rental service! As a Kyoto lover you should know, a bike is how important to a Kyoto traveler... Guests and staffs gathered together in the dinning room at night. Since everyone are nice, even a shy-boy like me can easily join into the conversation. We had dinner together, chatted and exchange travel information with each other. You may easily make foreign friends here. The atmosphere is so warm that just like your home. The owner is a friendly and helpful person. When I asked for his opinions about traveling, he took it so serious just like he is the one who travels! Before I left, he had taken a photo for me and I had written down my feelings towards Hitsujian. It was a very special traveling experience, which you cannot even expect to be happened in a luxurious hotel. You must want to be back to Kyoto. You must want to be back to Hitsujian.
