Izumigo Hotel Altia Toba

The building suffers from a lack of maintenance and requires renovation works. The service requires organization and lacks Asian speed and perfection. We dinner we had left much to be desired. The same goes for breakfast. On the seaside view is a pro argument to book here. In all, a location you might want to miss.

I wish there was a 3.5star option - that' what I'd rate it - good bones but needs a bit of an update. First the pro's Location, location, location - stunning. Every room has a view and a balcony to take in those gorgeous sea views. Service is impeccable and the food is good. There is an onsen onsite, there's also a pool but it wasn't open as mid-April a bit too cool to use. The rooms are large, there's western style bedding (twins) and a tatami area in every room. Now a bit of a downside- be prepared this hotel is old - although I am not certain of when the last refurbish was done - it is in dire need of an update or refresh in the rooms. Carpets are old, bathrooms are tired, draperies are thin, some had holes in them.- and decor looks like the 70's or perhaps earlier. That aside, hotel has good bones, fab views from rooms and public spaces. just be aware when booking of what to expect in the rooms.

I stayed in Toba in order to go to Ise Shrine. Most of the staff are very attentive to your needs. I enjoyed the Japanese food for dinner. After the appetizer, the main course of wagyu beef steak was served. There were no side dishes with the rice and miso soup, so I ate them with pickles. The taste was pretty good. Although it was a weekday, the food was served late. I stayed in a Japanese-Western room. It was spacious and had a good view, so I was comfortable. The amenities in the large communal bath were good. They also provided facial cleanser for women, which was very helpful. I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity.
