Hotel 24 Sweets HAKUBA

The cleanliness of the room was extremely poor. There were cigarette butts left in our bin from previous guests, which was unacceptable. The towels were very thin and of poor quality, and the bedding and bed sheets were also very low quality and uncomfortable. There were visible stains on the carpet, and room cleaning service was provided only once during our entire 7‑night stay. The drying room was kept unheated, so gloves and boots did not dry at all. After two nights of frustration, we were advised to dry our boots inside our room instead, which defeats the purpose of having a drying room. I have attached a photo of the building, and from this alone it is clear that the hotel places little importance on maintenance and overall upkeep of both the property and its appearance. I genuinely regret staying at this hotel. For the price charged, there are far better options available. As this was my first time in Hakuba, I learned that many hotels offer shuttle services to the mountains, meaning there is no need to stay right in the centre. Aside from its central location, there is absolutely nothing positive about this hotel.

Stayed 4 nights visiting daughter who is working in Hakuba for the ski season. A few points: 1) Great location and in walking distance to bus, restaurants, bars, chairlifts, Olympic ski jumps 2) Our room was quite large with 3 single beds. 2 made for us and the 3rd just a mattress - not very appealing. I didn't realise the shared bathroom was an onsen so we had no shower in the room. Towels were paper thin and small. Rooms were not serviced unless you wanted to pay a daily rate. Recycle bins in the hallway for cans and bottles. This was good as if we couldn't recycle, the bin would have been overflowing in the room after 4 nights. Ran out of toilet paper. Beds were hard and pillows were straw on one side and stuffing on other side. It's a traditional Japanese pillow but not good if you are not accustomed to a hard pillow. Carpet was stained. Small fridge big enough for drinks and breakfast supplies. Little cakes provided in fridge on day of arrival that was a nice feature and very delicious (little cheesecakes). Reason for a rating of 3 was the location.

Great location! Views of Happo One and so close to bus terminal, bars, restaurants and easy walking distance to Nakiyama lifts. Rooms on Level 3 were spacious for twin accom. Bathroom small but that’s typical in Japan. Hotel clean and comfortable, and staff helpful but not fluent in English. Bed was firm and comfortable. Room heater excellent and drying/storage room was adequate but not brilliant or large. Breakfast was good but not a buffet - served to your table (no choices) at appointed time so if you’re late, it’s cold! All up, I’d say the positives outweigh the negatives with this hotel. I’d stay here again, especially if only coming to Hakuba for a few days due to excellent location
