The food was very good and I enjoyed the hearth. The hot springs were also created slowly. It was just a shame that the room was badly cleaned.

Stayed here for 2 nights, family of 5. Hotel is focused on Japanese guest. We had set menu dinner and breakfast that was Japanese style. I really enjoyed the experience. We used the hotel bus to get to Hakuba Goryu ski resort. Loved the onsen experience. Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. Only challenge was getting to the hotel. Our train from Tokyo was delayed so we missed the hotel shuttle, so had to use a local bus and short walk. Would recommend, but we had a Japanese speaker in the group.

My fourth visit to KAI was to KAI Alps. It was right in the middle of Golden Week, so I took the Shinkansen to Nagano and then rented a car for about an hour. It is one of the more compact KAI inns, with the reception and dining buildings on either side at the front, and the large bath and guest rooms at the back. The local attraction is the hearth. The children were also very interested in the hearth, which was their first experience of sitting in one, and it was a precious time listening to their stories while eating oyaki around the hearth and enjoying hot sake in the evening. Each inn at KAI is unique and fun. I would like to visit another KAI in the future.
