The East-West joint tennis training camp that started in my 20s ended in my mid-30s, but resumed 10 years ago and didn't come for a year due to the impact of COVID-19. However, I was shocked by the sloppyness of the Tokyu hotel on Lake Hamana that I had been using until then, so this year, since it's quite far from Kansai, I stayed here for the first time for two nights, the day before the training camp. 🎶
It was my first time in Nagano since high school and my first time at Lake Suwa.
I enjoyed eel at Unagi Uka for lunch, toured the four major Suwa shrines and a sake brewery, and checked in here in the evening.
First of all, we were greeted by a warm welcome when we arrived 👏👏👏 It's so different from Lake Hamana ✊✊✊
Then we were shown to a room with a view of Lake Suwa, and we were impressed by the sunset over Lake Hamana ❣
First, we took a leisurely bath in the hot spring... This hot spring was also pretty GOOD (・∀・) Nice!!
All 19 people who had stayed the night before gathered in the banquet hall 🍻
We enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes at a table that felt like a lord 😋
After the meal, when we came out of the hall, the three maids who were in charge of our room bowed their heads and said "Thank you very much" 😲
Then, we gathered in one room and had a big banquet until around 1 o'clock 🍻
We had a plentiful breakfast, and it was a very satisfying inn.
The cost performance was also excellent, and above all, all the staff were very hospitable 👏👏👏
I checked out hoping to see them again next year.
Thank you to everyone at Saginoyu for the wonderful hospitality (人''▽`) Thank you☆

I stayed in a room with an open-air bath.
It was clean and the hot spring water was soft and made my skin smooth.
We also visited the large bathroom downstairs, which was spacious and had nice spring water.
Dinner was prepared in a separate private room. Again, this was a nice Japanese-style room with a relaxed atmosphere. The food was very tasty from the starters and I felt happy.
And the staff were very helpful, both at the front desk and in the restaurant. She saw me off when I left, and at that point she pointed to the roof of the hotel and said, "Look.
I looked at the roof and saw a real heron perched on it. And when we got in the car and started driving away, the heron flew away too. That was the last service at the Saginoyu(Heron’s Bath).

I was happy with my stay here. The room was very dated in terms of decor, but most importantly it was clean and comfortable. Some toiletries are provided and the bed and pillow were comfortable. If you don't like your room to be flooded with light early in the morning maybe ask for a room that isn't east-facing - there are big windows and the screens are a thin white fabric with no proper curtains. The place itself is lovely with a beautiful Japanese garden and footbath, and also a very nice public outdoor onsen. The front desk isn't always staffed with English-speaking staff but we got by.
