Positives: good central location in the village. They make a nice latte. The guy who oils you up at the station is very friendly Negatives: it is very run-down, peeling paint, no central heat, shared bathrooms and hostel like shower areas. Front desk young lady is fairly un-interested in helping out with anything other than checking you in. No dinner served the two days we stayed and very few eating out options. No housekeeping for rooms. So many other lovely places to stay

Incredibly expensive for what you get. The hotel is run down and badly in need of renovation. There are seemingly no staff. The hotel runs on self-check in and feels soulless with absolutely no welcome or advice on how things run. We even had to make (and then make up) our own beds, which was a bit shocking. The private onsen are nice but the only time we did see any staff was when someone came along to tell us that we shouldn’t be using it at that time - which was not made clear at reception - or anywhere else. We left a day early. Would I recommend it? Definitely not.

This is a great base for visiting Yudanaka or a stop over before heading to the ski resort. The hotel is located close to the bus stop and right next to the river. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were Japanese style but were clean and comfortable. The food was very high quality and the Japanese dinner was full of variety. The onsen were also good.
