I came to Sasebo for a trip and stayed overnight. Although it is located in front of the station, it is affiliated with a parking lot behind it, and guests were parked for 1,000 yen per night. Although not the latest building, it was well maintained, and the distinctive local service was memorable, such as free Goto Udon at night and lemon steak (heated with solid fuel) served in the morning.

I haven't stayed at anything other than the so-called City Hotel in nearly 20 years, and the service was really good, with very good cost-effective, variously devised services (lounge service for members, late-night udon noodles), and really good human service. It was the first reunion in 40 years and a trip to taste nostalgia, but the elderly manager was also very impressive, who after checking out showed me the changes around Sasebo Station from then to now. Thank you very much.

The room was small but would work for a short-term trip. I was there for a month so it was a bit tight. Pillows were filled with plastic capsules and not all that comfortable, so I recommend bringing your own. The fridge was so so tiny. The bathroom was also small but the service was super excellent. Unless you pay for the extra service there is no breakfast included, I don't believe you can even pay there for a meal if you don't have the coupons. The beds were alright, and nothing really notable. I liked that there was laundry available, not expensive for a load. No microwaves in the room but there is a microwave in the laundry that works just fine. Very close to the train station and any food you may need to get. It is about a 30min walk to the front of the Main Base—taxi stalls right across the street from the hotel. The hotel desk did call us at like 20:00 to come to pay a bill since we were staying for so long but I wish they would have called earlier in the day to sort it out since we were already in bed for the night.
