Yufuin Hotel Shuhokan

Really good hotel. The location felt prefect for us. Close enough to the touristy town centre, but far enough to be quiet and peaceful. The surrounding rice fields give it a calm villagey vibe. The room was large and comfortable. The public baths had a great view and were not too crowded. The parking was free and easily available.

It was a Reservation without meals. Because of that, I think you can eat whatever you like and it should be cheaper. For dinner, we walked for 10 minutes to enjoy Japanese beef, and for breakfast we walked for 2 minutes to enjoy French toast at Senke.

It's within 15 minutes walking distance from Yufuin Station, but it might be a bit tough on rainy days. There are no convenience stores nearby, and it's a very quiet environment. If it's sunny, you can see Mt. Yufu right in front of you and it's very beautiful (it was raining on the day I went, so it was almost invisible). I arrived earlier than the check-in time, but they let me in early because my room was ready, which I was very grateful for. There is no restaurant in the building, so you can't eat breakfast or dinner, but there is a ramen shop attached, so if you don't mind ramen, you can have ramen for dinner. There is also a vending machine for frozen foods (as a Japanese person, I think that coming all the way to Mt. Yufu... so it's only a last resort). The bath is on the top floor and it feels really good. The lukewarm spring water seems to be good for the body. Overall it is clean and quiet. There is also coffee service at the front desk in the morning, so I was able to spend a comfortable time.
