Hotel Livemax Esaka

Easy and fast check in at 3pm. Room was WAY smaller than in photos, can fit the most 2 people, still squeezy. Can barely leave 2 luggages open on the floor. Bed is slightly bigger than a super single, 2 people can fit but you can't toss and turn around much, but bearable. Toilet with a bathtub, but VERY small. Toilet space not including bathtub area is as small as the lavatory on the airplane, PATHETIC. You can barely move. The only bonus was there is a supermarket just across the road, it's near to Esaka train station. There's food nearby but not fantastic ones. This is probably what you get for a 2 star hotel, but for the price, I'll probably able to find a better hotel else where. Wouldn't stay again, I'm sure I can find a better hotel for my next trip.

I stayed here for 4 nights last month for business. It was conveniently located across the street from a Kohyo grocery store, which makes grabbing food for the next morning's breakfast easy (there's also a McDonald's and a Mister Donut within a very short walk of here, as well as a few cafes). The front desk was very welcoming. They graciously helped me with my bags (which were plentiful) up to my room, and made sure I was settled. The room itself locks with a keypad, and does not auto-lock. You have to press the key button to lock the door. If you're forgetful, this could be a problem the first time you use it, but you get used to it quite quickly. The hallway areas and the elevator are very hot and humid in the summer. If you've been using the air conditioning in your room, it makes leaving your room a bit harder. The room itself is quite small, but also very clean and somewhat stylish. I stayed in a single room that was a square room, with one corner sectioned off for the bathroom, leaving the rest of the room in a bit of an L-shape. However, the bathroom faced the bed, making for a rather unusual configuration. Down the one side of the L next to the door, there is a refrigerator and desk, although I would imagine sitting at the desk would feel rather crowded. The bed was comfortable enough (but firm, good if you like it). One major drawback was that no natural light comes into the room. The room faces into a courtyard, so it was hard for me (being jetlagged) to know when it was morning. For me, this was a rather large drawback, as I tend to wake up by natural light, and there wasn't any to be had. If you need a place to sleep for a night or two, this hotel is totally fine. It's right near Esaka station, and the price was very reasonable.
