My Hotel Ryugu

We booked the last room with tatami. When we checked in, the staff kindly walked us to the room and explained us about the amenities, stating that we could only use the bathroom assigned to our room. However, when we came back from dinner, we bumped into a Korean man coming out of our bathroom and left his toothbrush and toothpaste on the bathroom floor, and they did the same to the next bathroom which was numbered 201. I hope the hotel could implement some more security measures such as locks for the bathroom or better explain to customers about the private bathroom policy. I and my girlfriend find this is very disrespectful as men don’t know how to set their boundaries. What a bummer for such great staff.

The hotel is located almost halfway between Shizuoka Station and Shin-Shizuoka Station. The distance from the station is about a 10-minute walk from Shizuoka Station. It is within a 5-minute walk from Shin-Shizuoka Station. There is a CoCo Ichibanya next to the hotel, an izakaya in the surrounding area, and a 7-Eleven in front of the hotel, so there is no problem with shopping and eating. This time, we made a reservation in advance and visited the hotel, and stayed as a couple, but if you enter the guest information that is emailed to you in advance, check-in will be a little easier. Check-in is done using a rare tablet. You will receive the key directly from the staff at the front desk. The key was not the card type that is common in business hotels, but a normal key. The room we stayed in this time was a semi-double single room. The washroom is separate and near the door of the room. The refrigerator is not under the TV or near the desk, but next to the door, so it is difficult to easily get drinks. And what bothered me was the smell of the unit bath. The toilet is a washlet, but it is not automatic, but you have to turn the knob to clean it yourself. The curtains in the unit bath had a damp smell, and even though there was ventilation the smell didn't go away. My impression after using the facility was that I was very satisfied with everything except for the smell of the curtains. It seems that they also have Japanese-style rooms, so I recommend trying them out.

Friendly, helpful staff in a great location for Shizuoka station and city centre. If you've stayed at any similar so-called "business hotel" you'll know what to expect: small but well kept rooms, and all the amenities laid on. Didn't have breakfast as there's of options nearby. would stay again if the price is right.
