It’s 15 minutes’ walk from Ikebukuro JR ticket barrier, the nearest exit being C6. The room is miniscule, but has the basic things – bathroom, air con (with some noise), electric sockets, bed – the bed is slightly less hard than at most cheap Japanese hotels. The WiFi worked okay the evening I checked in, but was off the following morning. The reception isn’t 24 hours, but the couple who run the hotel were helpful and pleasant. There are no public areas, and no breakfast but there are coffee shops within 5 minutes’ walk. I paid 5,000 yen, and you get what you pay for.

Small and for tokyo quiet budget hotel in a quiet (except for the local election candidate vans at the time of our stay) and nice neighbourhood - 10 min walking distance to Ikebukuro main station. Closer to nearest metro entrance. Super friendly staff! Arigato! We got the newly furbished rooms holding AC, a desk and simple bed. Toilet was small but clean and functional - heating in toilet seat ! and a small bath tub somehow even managed to fit there too :) Don't expect luxury - but if you like me are mostly in Tokyo to explore the city / or working this will do just great! I was pleasantly surprised. What you see is what you get type hotel ...But can only recommend ! NO bad experiences what so ever. There's is a tiny smoking area located on the 1st floor (or 2nd if your japanese) - perfect.

I spend 1 night at Hatoya Hotel. I had to change my plans and I wanted a hotel near my apartment. The room had everything I needed and it was clean. I didn't have a view but that was not a problem. The owners were really really nice! I tried to wash my clothes in the laundry next to the hotel and after a while I didn't show up, they came and checked on me if everything was ok. The room was very quiet and in the neighborhood there were a lot of convenience stores. Also the next morning they helped getting me a taxi. I felt very welcome and I was happy I could stay a night there.
