Toyoko Inn Tokyo Shinagawaeki Takanawaguchi

It is located about a 5-minute walk from Shinagawa Station, along National Route 15. Self-service for both check-in and payment/check-out, choice of amenities as they are located in the lobby, and free coffee in the lobby. There is no convenience store in the area, but there is a Keikyu store next door, but it is open until 10 p.m. The rooms are so-called Toyoko Inn Standard, and are large enough and equipped if you are staying. But the problem is that there is only one elevator, and when check-ins overlap, you have to wait in line several times to get up. Boxes are too full for the lower floors at check-out and breakfast time.

It takes only 5 minutes on foot from Shinagawa Station. I could see it from Shinagawa station so I didn't have to get lost. There is a supermarket next to the hotel and plenty of restaurants within walking distance, so the location is great. The room is the usual Toyoko Inn specification, so there was no problem at all. Breakfast was Western style, there was no rice, only bread, but there were many side dishes, which was very good. Unfortunately, there was only one elevator and by 10 o’clock at check out it was very crowded and I was on the 6th floor, but I couldn’t get on it three times and saw it off. If you are staying, I would recommend the upper floors or the lower floors where the emergency exit is open in the morning.

1. Service - very good! The staff were friendly and helpful. They can understand and speak limited English. At times, they would use a digital translator to help communicate their explanation. 2. Food - good. They served sausages, salad, scrambled eggs, mini croissants, chocolate croissants, ham, salami, juice, miso soup. 3. Room - good. This is a business hotel, so I didn't expect much. My room was small, clean and safe. I was placed on the side of the train station so I could hear the trains. I used my noise reduction ear plugs to help eliminate the noise. There is a camper style bathroom in the room in which you have to step up and into the bathroom. The hotel provided clean towels in a bag and left it on my door handle every day. In exchange, I would place my used towels in the bag. The only issue I had was understanding how to turn on the AC with the small remote control. The remote isn't labeled in English. After a couple of tries, I finally figured out how to turn on the AC. 4. Activities - very good. There are restaurants and a nice grocery store at Shinagawa station. There is a grocery store next door to the hotel. 5. Overall - I chose this hotel due to its location to Shinagawa Station. Great connection to and from Haneda Airport, the Yamanote Line, and the Shinkansen. I would definitely stay again at this hotel. It served my needs very well.
