OK, hotel is showing signs of age, and needs to be updated. carpets are in need of a good clean in receptions, and replaced on the floor we stayed on (1st Floor, room 115). We upgraded our room, but it was still small. room was an accessible room, but needed care if ion a wheelchair. Food ok, but not great, evening meal was average, but breakfast was very poor. food cold, and poor selection. we never bothered on second morning. Junior staff friendly enough, but management was poor, and it was clear that there was a lack of harmony with the team and a certain manager who looked after food / bar area on evening. Beds need to upgrade, have slept of a softer park bench, no great at all. overall, not what we would expect given the heritage of the hotel. poor, and would only suggest you stay if no park benches free in are. Bathroom was dirty, water not that hot, rooms were not cleaned properly. plus points, looks good in black, and quiet surroundings.

I had a very bad experience in HOTEL SHERWOOD. We were supposed to book 2 rooms for Saturday (June, 27, 2015) but HOTEL SHERWOOD booked it on Friday (June 26,2015). The communication happened between the HOTEL SHERWOOD staff and the MANAGER. Since we don't speak Japanese, the staff who's also a Filipina translated it to us. We want to book for Saturday and not on Friday. We made it clear to them. I remember the HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER speak a bit of English, and asked us "this is for tomorrow(Saturday) not tonight(Friday)?". We nodded with a YES. So they asked us to pay 7,900YEN (discounted price according to them) for each room. We were waiting for a receipt but instead, they gave us the room key cards. So we were confused why they already gave us key cards. Then we re-confirmed again and again to both HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER and staff that we will use the room for Saturday and we were trying to give back the keys. They just gave us the "OK" hand gesture. So we left knowing we were booked for Saturday. On the next day(Saturday, June 27, 2015), we arrived on HOTEL SHERWOOD and approached the HOTEL SHERWOOD reception to check-in. And to our surprise, the HOTEL SHERWOOD staff told us that we were booked for June 26(Friday) and not for Saturday. So we told the HOTEL SHERWOOD staff that we talked to the HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER that we were supposed to check-in on Saturday. Another staff came in who speak a bit of English, and told us to come back at 9pm and that they will prepare different rooms for us. They said sorry. So we just left our luggages and continue our tour in Tokyo. Then we came back past 9 in the evening on HOTEL SHERWOOD. Now here's the tension began, the HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER approached us aggressively and talking to us in Japanese language. For me it was a sign of disrespect, because he knew we don't speak their language yet he kept on talking to us in Japanese. Then a HOTEL SHERWOOD staff came in as our translator, she explained that there was a misunderstanding in the booking. The 2 rooms were booked for Friday, and we were very shocked because we made it clear to them that it was for Saturday. The HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER kept on talking in Japanese and he was like treating us as his staff and not as the HOTEL SHERWOOD customers. I felt RACISM that time. It was taking too long for the HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER and his staffs to discussed the matter, so I interupted and asked them if we can stay on HOTEL SHERWOOD or not, because my friend is 4 months pregnant and she needed to rest before our flight on Sunday. The HOTEL SHERWOOD staff told us that yes, we can stay but we have to pay additional 10,000+YEN for the 2 rooms. I was almost at rage and furious and I wanted to yell at them because it was clearly their fault that there was a misunderstanding on the booking and that the HOTEL SHERWOOD MANAGER should consider and let us stay there. We paid the right amount for nothing. I asked for a refund but they don't want to give us back the money. We did not see the rooms nor use even the elevator. In the end, we decided not to stay in HOTEL SHERWOOD because of the MANAGER who disrespected us and very inconsiderate. We left the HOTEL SHERWOOD and went straight to the Airport. So for those who are planning to stay at HOTEL SHERWOOD especially for tourist just prepare yourselves or bring a good translator because only few staff can understand and speak in English. I don't want for you to go through the same experience just like what happened to us. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE AT HOTEL SHERWOOD. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!!! My husband and I have been traveling since 2009 and we never encountered such POOR AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE that the MANAGER OF HOTEL SHERWOOD has shown to us!!! Last June 26, 2015, me and my husband, together with our friends were on the road (it was raining during that time) to look for a hotel that has available rooms for us to stay in the following day, June 27. We were booked at Oak Hostel Zen until morning of June 27 but since the hotel/hostel was fully booked for June 27 we didn't have a choice but to look for another hotel for an overnight stay June 27-28 because our flight going back home is at 11am of June 28. While we were on the haunt, we found Hotel Princess 2 but since the receptionist doesn't understand English, she called one of the motel's employees and from there we've met Ate Benny (not so sure of her name). She's a Filipino also. (oh Btw-we're from the Philippines). She had referred us to HOTEL SHERWOOD (Sister company (as per told) of Hotel Princess 2). We kept on telling her we were looking for room(s) for June 27-28. I don't remember as to how many times we've reminded her about it. HOTEL SHERWOOD is just a walking distance from Hotel Princess 2. We went directly to HOTEL SHERWOOD and there we've met the MANAGER! Ate Benny spoke to the MANAGER in Japanese (since we're tourists - we didn't understand a thing!) then she informed us that there were available for 2 rooms at 7,900 YEN each. The MANAGER asked for the payment so we've paid him 15,800 YEN in cash for 2 rooms! He did ask for our passports but we've informed him we'll just pass it onto him upon check-in and so he agreed. We then AGAIN reminded them (both the MANAGER and Ate Benny) that we're going to check-in the following day, June 27, 2015. After paying the hotel, they provided us the key cards!!! I can still remember, we were amazed because they have provided us the key cards in an instant knowing that we're going to check-in on June 27 and NOT during that night of June 26! I must admit, we do also have our shortcomings. We didn't ask them as to why they've provided us the hotel key cards. But you can't blame us! All we thought it's one of the hotel's policy or whatsoever and we were very stressed out during that time because we just get back from our tour from Kawaguchiko and thought they already know our check-in date! After getting our hotel key cards, we went straight back to our hotel. We checked-out from Oak Hostel Zen in the morning of June 27, 2015. We were carrying all of our heavy bags including the souvenirs we bought. When we arrived at the HOTEL SHERWOOD, I gave the hotel key cards to the receptionist. We were shocked when he informed us that WE WERE BOOKED THE NIGHT OF JUNE 26, 2015 and we were supposed to check out in the morning of June 27!!! How come it happened when we kept on telling EVERYONE that WE ARE GOING TO CHECK-IN ON JUNE 27???!!! The receptionists then called the hotel's employees (Don't know who they are) and after debating, the hotel staffs said sorry and WE WERE TOLD AND ALLOWED TO CHECK-IN AT 9PM ON JUNE 27! So we agreed on the check-in time because we were supposed to roam around Tokyo and are planning to buy more souvenirs for our loved-ones. We asked permission to the hotel staffs if we could leave our heavy bags and they agreed. I thought everything's okay since they let one of our friends filled out a form and they have indicated room numbers on the bag tags. We went to Shinjuku and Akihabara the night of June 27. We decided to have dinner in one of the restaurants in Akihabara since the check-in time is at 9pm and it's still early when we were done buying all the stuffs needed. It's almost 10pm when we arrived at the hotel - feeling dizzy and stressed out after roaming around Shinjuku and Akihabara. Oh and By the way, I am 4 MONTHS PREGNANT so I really need to take a rest and a hotel room to stay in!! When we arrived at HOTEL SHERWOOD, we were confronted by the HOTEL SHERWOOD'S MANAGER and HE'S TALKING IN JAPANESE!!! WE WERE LIKE -WHAAAAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? We were doing hand signals to let him know that we don't understand anything! I remember my husband said, Sorry, English please. A lady came out (also a Filipino and co-employee and friend of Ate Benny) informed us that there were misunderstandings between two parties. They have booked the 2 available rooms on June 26 instead of June 27. Ate Benny appeared and have informed the MANAGER that we were supposed to check-in on June 27. We were told that WE NEED TO PAY AGAIN (!!!!) IF WE WANT TO STAY AT HOTEL SHERWOOD!!! WE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE CHANCE TO USE THE HOTEL SHERWOOD'S ELEVATOR NOR HAVE SEEN OUR ROOMS THEN THEY WANT US TO PAY AGAIN???!!!!! YES, THEY HAVE PROVIDED US THE KEY CARDS THE NIGHT OF JUNE 26 BUT WE NEVER EVER USED IT!!!!!! THEY CAN CHECK ON THEIR CCTV'S, COMPUTERS AND ETC. IF THEY LIKE!!! They were debating for a couple of minutes and have agreed and allowed us to stay at HOTEL SHERWOOD BUT ATE BENNY WILL BE THE ONE TO PAY FOR THE 2 ROOMS AND WE DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO HER (NEVER!). I ALMOST CRIED BECAUSE I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT OUR SITUATION (aside from the fact that I am pregnant). SO WE DECIDED TO LEAVE AND SLEPT AT THE AIRPORT!!! WE PAID 15,800 YEN FOR NOTHING!!!! VERY INCONSIDERATE MANAGER!!! WE FELT HUMILIATED!!! HE'S THE MANAGER, HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE ONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HE'S THE REASON IT GETS WORSEN!!! I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND HOTEL SHERWOOD! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Nevertheless, we have enjoyed and loved our trip! Thank you Japan for the wonderful and memorable experience! :)
