JR-EAST HOTEL METS KOMAGOME

Location is Fantastic! It is connected to JR Komagome station on the Yamanote line. I think I spelled those right. Anywhoo....Here is the deal on this place. There is so many good things about this hotel. They have tonnes of toiletries available in a display downstairs. You just take what you need. They have magnets that go on your door for do not disturb or two cleaning options. Super clean hotel! The room was above the train tracks for the subway station but the windows are soundproofed! Only two reasons I could not give this hotel a full 5/5 rating. First of all, I know that space is tight in Japan, but I am not a fan of a bed that is pressed against a wall and there is only enough space to open one suitcase at a time. Just not used to this kind of thing. Secondly is the Denny's restaurant downstairs. They managed to screw up breakfast every single day! First super runny eggs. Any more runny and they would be raw. Tried the salmon the next day and it tasted like a crusted piece of salt in the shape of a fish! Inedible! They replaced it with runny eggs! Ugh! Other than that, this place gets 5/5 for Location and Cleanliness! Oh, I forgot to mention, they have laundry machines on the 3rd and 9th floor if I remember correctly. You put in your laundry and your coins and then create a four digit code. You can view the laundry machines on your tv in your room so you can see when yours is done. You need your four digit code to get your laundry out so no worries about people stealing or removing your items. In many cities I would rather be in a downtown type location where there is a lot within walking distance. In Tokyo, Ginza is sooooo busy! I preferred this location. Just a train ride away from all the action and then quieter dining options near the hotel in the evening.

Hotel located at the exit of Komagome station of the Yamanote line (which serves most tourist areas of Tokyo). Very clean with all the necessary equipment for a short stay. There are several Konbini within 2min walk. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant Denny's which is in the same building (very limited in choice, unless supplemented with money). As in most hotels in Japan, the mattress is of the "futon" type so very hard.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would recommend it without hesitation! The location is excellent - it’s right next to Komagome Station, served by both the Yamanote Line (which loops around major Tokyo hubs like Shinjuku and Shibuya) and the Namboku Line. You can get to most key areas in under 30 minutes. Despite the great transport links, the neighbourhood itself is quiet and peaceful, offering a more authentic glimpse into everyday life in Tokyo. It’s also home to the beautiful Rikugien Gardens, one of the city’s finest Edo-period landscape gardens. There are plenty of convenient amenities nearby, including Lawson, 7-Eleven, McDonald’s, KFC, and several pharmacies. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and friendly throughout my stay. The hotel also has a well-stocked amenity station in the lobby with useful items like razors, bath salts, toothbrushes, skincare products, and shampoo. My room was spotless and well-equipped, with a comfortable bed and pillows, a desk, TV, and a modern bathroom with everything you might need. Breakfast is provided via a voucher for the Denny’s on the second floor. While simple, the breakfast is freshly prepared with a good range of options, both Western (eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, pancakes) and Japanese (shioyaki salmon, rice, miso soup, fermented vegetables). A self-serve drink bar is also included with tea, hot and iced coffee, juices, and more. Overall, this is a fantastic hotel that offers great value for money, warm hospitality, and a perfect base for exploring Tokyo.
