Mitsui Bekkan

It is very good traditional Japanese onsen. Japanese/Western-style Room (Twin Room + Japanese-style Room) is the best choice! Staff members are not English skilled but try to understand and serve the guests. They are very-very friendly. There are two breakfast options: set and buffet. Staff inform on the option a night before. Multi-night stay provides opportunity to test both options. Meal (Japanese style) is very delicious. Public baths (separate for men and women) are available from 5:30 am till 9:00 am and from 3:00 pm till midnight. It is excellent experience for the foreign guests.

There are many hotels in the area. Many on the beach are newer and luxurious. This hotel was 1/2 the price, and 2 blocks away from the beach. We were here as a baseball team from Hawaii and took 20 rooms for 5 days. The hotel is very outdated and has not see a renovation since the 1970’s. Breakfast was included in the price. There is no dinner or restaurant on the property. I paid ¥9,500 a person. You can fit up to 4 people in a room sleeping on futons on the ground. Many rooms also have beds but the beds are old and soft. I had a tatami room. It was clean but needed a detailed cleaning. Dust was everywhere, my small carpet area had stains all over it, and wasn’t inviting to walk on. The toilet seat was cracked and very old it had a washlet, but I didn’t feel comfortable in using it. Around the private toilet area other people’s hair had accumulated on the edges and corners. My bath was really outdated with tile from the 1950’s. It had water stains and marks all over. I didn’t even fill the tub up and didn’t sit in it or used it as an ofuro. The tub and shower area was not comfortable to use and I felt uneasy showering in there. I’m sorry to say, I know that would already stop you from reading further. But the air conditioning worked well if it wasn’t for the dirt and dust in the vents that I could see. The room key brought back memories of my childhood with the Batton and chain attached to the key. The staff is as always over friendly and accommodating. For the price and with our big group this was the perfect hotel for us. Hopefully this hotel can update and remodel so more tourist would stay here.
