On a rainy day of our arrival, we were greeted by a staff member in a parking lot with umbrellas for us, and him being ready to haul our luggage. In general, the staff made great effort of welcoming and catering us. During check-in we were given a chance to pick robes from lots of various styles - in no other Onsen we saw such a large choice to choose from. The japanese tatami style room with own bathtub and great view over the ocean was fabulous, the food - both the dinner and the breakfast were beautifully decorated, served and also tasty and the two private Onsens, where you although might have to wait in a queue to get the key to, are also great. Especially the "no. 3" private Onsen was even better than the other one, as it had a much bigger and more beautiful Onsen area. Apparently Hamachidori-no-yu Kaishu is a very popular location, as there were lots of other guests, the big car park in front of the resort was almost full. On our Japan travels we have although seen better price/value on Onsens, e.g. in other similarly priced Onsens, we were served in private dining rooms, which made the experience much nicer than in Hamachidori-no-yu Kaishu, where dinner and breakfast was served in two larger dining halls with less privacy.

A particularly bad hotel, that starts with the strange rule that you can not wear shoes in the hotel, they must be stored in the lobby in lockers and the key you have to hand in and you get it again when you go outside. Then we have the rooms, a basic hotel room that does not deserve this name, the edges in the shower are full of mold, dust is everywhere, and on all edges is dust, and the windowsill is full of spots and mold, they are also very small rooms. Then we get dinner, very bad!! All food is cold, I think is pulled out of the freezer and thawed, no cook is involved!! Really never had such bad food anywhere in the world!! And of course there is still breakfast, also very bad, few slices of bread and a croissant with 1 tub of butter and 1 tub of jam, coffee you have to grab yourself but is also not to drink, for the rest you have a dirty soup and smelly fish for breakfast. So we were also forced to have breakfast and dinner outside the door. The only thing that's fun is the hot spring.
