Yudaonsen Ubl Hotel Matsumasa

Has new wing and old wing, and old wing is showing its age. Facilities all work ok, but upgrading is overdue. Staff extremely helpful (when there was a difficulty at check-in with the fact that we don't speak enough japanese, they called a fluent english speaking member to come and help us and she took us to the room and answered all of our questions). Lovely staff throughout. Parking gets crowded at the front of the property but staff are on-duty to help you find a spot. Good central location to an array of restaurants. The breakfast was true onsen style with array of dishes and staff who could give guidance on what went best with what..... (Menu varies each day) Really a location to drive to as quite a walk to JR station. In house onsen which is very well kept and a feature.

Matsumasa, before he became a member of the Uber Group, was treated to tea when he checked in, with the attendant taking his baggage and showing him to his room. I used to feel like a very human inn, but since we became a uber-group, I guess I’m the only one who feels lonely! It's the flow of the times. This time, we had "Fugu Full Course Kaiseki". Fried chicken is the taste of stability. The fuguchiri soup stock is also wonderful, and even the porridge is delicious. The milt had a smooth texture and I swallowed it without chewing it. This is the first time I've eaten my ovaries, but the venomous ovaries are strange because of their bubble wrap texture. It seems reasonable that you can enjoy a full course at this price. For breakfast, the miso soup with shijimi mushrooms was delicious, and the shijimi mushrooms were large and properly packed. The staff at the morning and dinner venue were cheerful and impressed. They were very friendly and easy to understand explanations of meals without stress. In the public bath, the open-air bath drains the source, and the inner bath circulates. The open-air bath is a wonderful hot spring with a slight sulfur smell. It was too cold in the morning to enter the open-air bath, only the inner bath, but the smell of chlorine was undeniable.

This hotel caters to Japanese compleltly. Room is large. Bathroom is literally two feet by 3-1/2 feet. No western food of any kind. No coffee in the rooms. Beds in the "western style' rooms are hard as a ROCK. Good wi-fi. Minimal towels. 5 TV channels, all Japanese. Bring your google translate-English and any other foreign language skills here are on the far side of minimal. Staff very nice but communication requires patience!
