Sala Phae

In a few words we can say, when you decided to overnite on the island, you have to go to this accomodation! Value for money! Your own floating room, with a veranda at the Mekong river, amazing sunset! Also the small Village is worth to pay a visit, nice restaurants, friendly people, good food and very reasonable prices. The room is good, fine double bed, good shower, with hot water, and the next morning a spendid breakfast, again with an amazing view! Go and experience yourself ! Angelique and Gertjan from Holland.

Great rooms and fantastic location.....fabulous tofeel the gentle swaying of the houseboat, and so relaxing sitting out on the balcony, riverside and watching the world go by and having a swim in the Mekong. The only thing is they could have done with mosquito nets over the beds as the rooms have loads to gaps between the roof and walls and there were swarms of bugs at night when we had the light on.... The price was also expensive for what you get...I have stayed far superior accommodation in Laos offering a lot more for the same price or less, the bungalows across the road owned by the same establishment are also pricey... Great stay though and would have liked to have stayed much longer.

The good points : the view, the feeling so close to the river, the relaxed atmosphere, the gloriuos sunsets. The medium : the rooms are quite OK, considering the location. Bathrooms are small but this was to be expected. The staff is quite indifferent (contrary to some other reviews). The bad : the breakfast, the worse we had in Laos. The butter is inedible (everyday), the fruit juice cannot be called that, the fruit platter is tiny. The cocktails with almost no alcool. The meals are OK but expensive. the space between the rooms and the street is quite ugly, with no vegetation, just cement and earth.. The price is about twice any other place in the island. Pan's for instance has much higher value.
