Meuangluang Hotel

We loved the Capital Hotel. The rooms were spacious and very nice. The hotel grounds were very nice and we enjoyed the pool. The location was great...just a few minutes from many things to see and do.

This is the only hotel I stayed in while in Laos so I don't know if this is typical. We were greeted warmly and guided to our room. The wooden floors had so much polish on them they were dangerous in socks. You could actually fall and hurt yourself, oddly. Tiny room with small tv, remote, very firm bed, closet with hangers and a safe. Toilet seat hinge was obviously broken. Right outside the window was a small market off the main road with A LOT of foot traffic and noise/music. We asked if we could move because we wanted to sleep and couldn't. They happily moved us and even made my wife toast for her stomach and no charge. Friendly staff. Floors of room # 2 were same and dangerous. No elevator I saw. There was no WIFI in either of the rooms we had. Only in the lobby/dining areas. Kind of a bummer when you want to relax and send photos back home laying in bed. Breakfast was not that great. Very basic - Some pastries, some meat, some fruit. Not a lot of choices. Coffee was very good. Service was fine. It's a three or five minute walk to the Night Market area with the sidewalks being repaired nicely at the moment. Very safe area to walk around in at night. FYI don't trust any traffic signs while walking to and from the hotel.

We had a couple of nights at the hotel recently & enjoyed its close proximity to town & the markets.The breakfasts were great & having a nice pool made it easy to relax after a day walking or shopping.There was a slight problem with the Wi Fi but the staff were very friendly & helpful.
