The Apsara Rive Droite

Wonderful hotel and lovely staff made this a great stay. The hotel is across the river from the old town. It’s a 25 minute walk into town or a short cab ride. The hotel is really peaceful. In the morning the monks walk in front of the hotel collecting alms. As you are away from the old town it’s really just you; some monks; some locals; and the temple dogs. So that made it really special as it was quiet and respectful. Breakfast is à la carte and good. Fresh fruit; some warm croissants and baguette with eggs of your choice. The staff are great. They couldn’t be more helpful. They arranged two tours for me and they were great - up to the waterfalls and also to the elephant sanctuary. Both surprised me as they were just so good. Walking with some elephants in the quiet with a very small group was so special. Again…can’t praise this enough. It was just wonderful.

Spent a weekend at the Apsara Rive Droite in Luang Prabang. Had a lovely time, and can’t say enough about the host, Han. He went out of his way to make the stay as pleasant as possible, and even guided a lost taxi driver to get me back to the hotel! 10/10 for his ability to anticipate and meet needs and make my stay memorable.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at The Apsara River Droite. The hotel has an intimate feel with all 8 rooms facing the river and pool area. Our room had a balcony with seating so we could see the passing parade across the river. The room was comfortable and charmingly decorated, if a little dark, especially in the bathroom. The mini bar was the best stocked I’ve ever seen with champagne, prosecco, wine, beer, juice and soft drinks. Breakfast was simple but tasty with choice of two types of eggs, fruit and fresh bread and pastries, homemade jams. There was also a Lao option. As the boat was not in operation to ferry guests across the river, the hotel organised free taxis into town. Mr Han, the hotel manager, was so friendly and helpful and all the staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. My only wish would be a hairdryer with some power and separate shampoo & conditioner, not conditioning shampoo. Overall, I would highly recommend this lovely little hotel for a stay in Luang Prabang.
