Aroon Residence

I was really cross when I checked in. My room w..as very basic not like the same photo which was on the Agoda site and on my booking form. The staff calmed me down and I took stock. I fair sized room with satellite television, BBC world, CNN and a handful of sports channels. There is air conditioning, a ceiling fan and an extract fan. It is quiet and very clean. My bed is a bit too hard for my liking. The building is an old colonial style set back from the road. It is only about a 10 minute walk to all the central sights. Breakfast is excellent. I paid $20 per night, maybe I expect too much. There is no lift. 0

The bed was comfortable, good shower, good breakfast, the place was spotless and the staff friendly. Wifi was just OK but good at reception. Airport pickup was perfect. The hotel was a little out of the way (5-10 mins walk) and is only known to tuk tuk drivers by its old name Aaron Residential so it is difficult to find (always take a business card with you). There were no business cards when I was staying at the hotel but apparently they have them now.

The hotel is clean, reasonably close to the centre, and inexpensive. That's about all the positives I can say about it. It's not particularly comfortable, (or uncomfortable for that matter) and while the staff are friendly enough the desk staff are not that helpful, although it may be because their lack of English was the problem rather than their lack of knowledge. For the price it's ok for a couple of nights but I wouldn't advise a longer stay.
