We booked this hotel with the impression there was a pool but it was a photo from 5 years or so ago. This place is very old and the doors do not lock properly or do the windows going out to the balcony. Air conditioning also also isn't the best everything is old and dated and smell bad from people smoking in the rooms from over the years. I highly recommend staying

This large hotel looks like an old style government hotel of communist country. It offers a perfect location along the Mekong close to Wat Phra Kaeo, presidential palace and fountain. It also has a large parking if you come by car, which is important in Vientiane today. We booked a Deluxe Double Bed room, which offers a view on the Mekong. The room is reasonably equipped, but a large stain on the carpet and a water leak don’t give a good impression. Beds are too hard for us, but it’s not a major problem. There was a problem with the booking since they told us that there was no booking for that day. Fortunately, I printed the Agoda Voucher. After a while, they gave us room, but I had the feeling that they were not too happy to have more customers. Fortunately, the people who take care of the breakfast are friendlier than those at the reception. As a summary, a good place for a stop in Vientiane especially if you come by car, but not a charming place.

Maybe, as another reviewer wrote, this hotel caters more to a Chinese clientele (and, in fact, the hotel was full of those nationals), but for American standard, the hotel was 1 star, maximum 2, if you'd be gracious. Carpets were filthy, there were little bugs and insects in 3 walls + the restroom, curtains were dirty, old and smelly, the little sandals they leave in room stank, the bathroom seemed like it was never washed or sanitized, in other words, avoid, avoid, avoid.
