Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal

We were welcomed by the concierge who is still as friendly and professional. The rooms and bathrooms are beautiful, functional, and very comfortable. It is, however, quite incomprehensible that during the renovations, the needs of clients who required a desk were overlooked... Great disappointment regarding breakfast, which was one of the highlights of the hotel for us. The quality of the products is not really in question, but the charming and efficient staff we had known for a long time has been replaced by a team of temporary workers and interns who are nice but are not true professionals. In a 5-star hotel, it is unacceptable to have to wait 20 minutes for your coffee and 30 minutes for your omelet (which is less well presented than in an Ibis). It is disheartening to eat next to an empty table that is not cleared, while the servers walk around the room with equally empty trays. The management is clearly unable to retain its qualified staff, and this also applies to the reception where we were happy to see Anaïs, a rare survivor from the old team. Salaries are probably to blame. They risk costing a star in the medium term… The bar remains our only point of interest. The view of the historic city is splendid and the staff has not changed. Adrien and his team are true professionals who know their clients and manage to create extraordinary cocktails for them. As Napoleon's mother used to say, as long as it lasts…

Great location; about 20 minute walk to town. Spotless clean, large rooms, great amenities even for the lead in category. I would recommend.

Not impressed. Other than welcoming receptionist in lobby, staff seemed bored, untrained and not welcoming. Rooms were comfortable and relatively clean but we expected more from such a highly rated hotel. I will stay elsewhere when I return.
