Unter den Linden is the main artery of Berlin's city center. It is worth walking the whole way starting from the Brandenburg Gate, obviously on foot, to discover its atmosphere and see the shop windows located along its route.

This is the main thoroughfare of downtown Berlin. Surrounded by some of the city's most important buildings, Unter den Linden is the ideal first stop to explore the German capital.

This avenue is one of Berlin’s main streets, full of life, shops, hospitality venues and buildings with very striking stately architecture, apart from the trees that give it its name “under the lindens”. It is a must-see walking area for any visitor to the city, in the heart of the city and very close to many other tourist attractions. We spent an afternoon getting to know Unter den Linden and its surroundings, including a visit to Parliament and the Brandenburg Gate, next to which a concert was taking place when we went. From this avenue you reach the adjoining Bebelplatz and Museum Island at the opposite end of the Brandenburg Gate. It is very comfortable to walk along Unter den Linden, because although it is open to vehicle traffic, there are very wide spaces for pedestrians. Its length is approximately one and a half kilometers, which is an assumable distance to completely travel this street, although there is public transport in several points of it if you want to get faster somewhere. After World War II, this avenue fell within the boundaries of East Berlin, and much of its buildings that were damaged in the war had to be rebuilt. It is really highly recommended to walk quietly along this boulevard for anyone visiting Berlin and for the local population itself, for its pleasant atmosphere and beautiful architecture.
