Kingston Hotel 9-Jonker Street Malacca

This is an exact reproduction of our feedback directly to the hotel on 28 July 2023. There has been no response to date. My wife and I stayed at Mimosa Hotel from 24-26 Jul. 2023. We have stayed here several times over the years. The experience during our latest stay (room 204) is unforgettable to say the least. Here are the reasons: 1. The lift was out of service during the entire duration of our stay. We are a senior couple aged above 60 and to walk up and down was a little taxing. But if this was the only issue it is probably acceptable given the need for occasional downtime for maintenance purposes. 2. Initially we could not sign onto the wifi network and the conversation with the reception staff regarding this was frustrating, in part due to language barrier (English vs Bahasa) but from the body language she appeared disinterested. She did eventually send somebody to assist and we managed to log on but the reception remained patchy throughout our stay. 3. On day 2, when we returned to the room in the late afternoon, it was still not serviced. When we brought this to the attention of the reception staff (the same one) she was extremely defensive and said it was not her fault, nothing could be done as the housekeeping workers have left. She even said we could move to another hotel if we were unhappy. WOW! AND NOT A SINGLE WORD OF APOLOGY. After all, it's not her fault!! We ran out of coffee, bottled water, tissues and toilet paper. For information we DID NOT use the Do Not Disturb sign at all. (Question: Do you send your staff even for basic training????) 4. My wife saw 4 small cockroaches running around in the bathroom and she managed to kill 3 of them. When we checked out on Day 3, a different staff was on duty and we brought the above to his attention. He felt bad and apologised a few times. But by then it was too late.

ONE of the best food tasted in Malaysia / very clean place and service is good however need to precook for table as always quite full - the food was quite authentic and different from any other Malaysian or Chinese food

It was a nice and clean but basic hotel, it reminds me am old English hotel and smelt a bit like it. I enjoyed my stay but if you are looking for modern this is not it. They only have twin bed rooms and no doubles. Breakfast is a mixture of fruit, chicken nuggets and cake which I quite enjoyed!! Laundry messed up my washing so don’t bother sending anything to laundry my whites are now Grey. Two stars as it’s not awful but it’s not great. You get what you pay for.
