Smokehouse Frasers Hill

Went there to celebrate my kid's birthday. Manager was very helpful in fulfilling our requests to have a table in the garden and later moved to the conservatory due to the changing weather. Let us have a roam around the place after a lovely cream tea while waiting for the rain to stop, switching on the lights in the other rooms for us to take better pictures. Wonderful experience altogether.

A Peaceful Stay in a Beautiful Place from Another Era We stayed for two nights in the Charles Suite, which was immaculate, spacious and beautifully maintained. It truly felt as though we had stepped into another era. The room was very clean, and our family had a peaceful and comfortable stay. We had dinner at the hotel on one evening. The food was good, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. Breakfast was a simple, traditional Western breakfast. Mr Hafiz and his team were fantastic. We had read some mixed reviews before arriving, but our own experience was very satisfying. This is a place that becomes busy with tourists during weekends but can be very quiet at other times, so the staff face different challenges. Once we got to know them, we found them warm, friendly and extremely helpful. This is an old heritage property, so guests should not expect all the modern facilities of a five-star hotel. The hot-water temperature can sometimes change between hot and cold because of the old plumbing. However, completely replacing everything might also affect the original character and architecture of this beautiful house. During our visit, it rained and the weather was wonderful. For those of us living in Malaysia, where temperatures are usually above 30°C, enjoying temperatures of around 17°C to 22°C was a real pleasure. The food in Fraser’s Hill was also very good, especially the kopitiam in town. If you are doing research, writing a book, meditating or simply looking for somewhere quiet to relax and be alone, this is the place. You do not need to travel all the way to Bhutan or the Himalayan mountains to find peace and cool weather. A very peaceful and satisfying stay. We would happily return.

The view and the old English ambience are all going for this place. parking is difficult. Drinks are pricey, the service almost non-existent, half our food had to be returned and eventually cancelled. The elderly manager is an unbelievably weird combination of arrogance and defensiveness lending the whole experience an otherworldly unpleasantness.
