Bayview hotel is terrible. They really don’t care . The first room was absolutely awful, dirty, old, tatty and unpleasant. We asked to be moved, especially as the shower was over the bath and I couldn’t climb in! They wouldn’t move us. We complained again to different staff and got moved to a much better room. We had to pay extra. No apology. We met one staff member who told us all staff had been advised to use only the better rooms, but for some reason they didn’t know about that. We found out the hotel is closing at the end of June, so seriously just put people in the best rooms you’ve got! What difference does it make? The second room had more space and was less bashed up and grotty, but still lacking. They don’t know what a hand towel is, they are very wary of bath mats and allow only the smallest amount of toilet paper and soap. Difficult for me as I like cleanliness and order.
The pool is very small. The revolving restaurant has gone. The food was below average except for the freshly cooked eggs and the croissants. The coffee and tea were disgusting. There was no cold milk to put in tea. The list goes on, but I’ll stop here. Even if this place wasn’t due for demolition I would NEVER come back here. There are lots of staff milling about but only a few doing anything.
I think you probably get the picture.

I commissioned a bespoke suit from Salem at the tailoring shop in the lobby of the Bayview Hotel Georgetown in March 2026, paying RM 2,100.
The initial delivery was completely mis-sized and too tight to wear. I returned it to Penang with detailed alteration notes. The suit was sent back to me a second time, yet it remains completely unwearable—worse fitting than a standard fifteen-year-old off-the-hanger suit.
With my daughter's wedding just days away, there is no more time for corrections. When contacted, Salim verbally refused to provide a refund, offering only further unfeasible alterations despite having already failed twice.
I am left with no suit for a major family milestone and am out of pocket RM 2,100. I have initiated a credit card chargeback for 'Goods Not as Described' and am lodging a formal complaint with the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia (TTPM).
Travelers and hotel guests should look elsewhere for reliable tailoring.
I want to alert management to ensure other guests and patrons are not subjected to the same sub-standard business practices. I trust you will look into the commercial standards of the tenants representing your establishment.
