Check-in and check-out went well, quickly done, with helpful staff. The room itself seemed clean. When I had trouble with the CD player provided, maintenance came and exchanged it. No spoon for the tea cups provided. Overall, this place is ok to stay at. It's not the newest anymore.
The location is ok, though certainly not downtown. The mall next door is ok, has a cinema and quite a few restaurants and cafes for eating starting in the late morning. Nothing for breakfast, though, unless you eat at the hotel, which I didn't.
At the time of this writing, I can see some extremely negative reviews, and the overall rating of the hotel is 85/99 in KK. I haven't stayed at the 98 others, but I don't understand why this hotel should have such a low rating. My guess would be that it belongs somewhere in the middle - nothing super wonderful, but perfectly ok, and for the money and age a good deal.
(PS Transportation is not an issue, plenty Grab available, which can be pre-ordered if necessary.)
