Gaya Centre

We stayed at the Gaya Centre Hotel at the beginning of April2026 for 2 nights, then returned for another 1 night later in the month. We booked independently -room only and received a very friendly welcome. We had requested a sea view room which they gave us (on each stay). ALL the staff we encountered were friendly, professional and very helpful. They even helped us start to use GRAB taxis which we had not encountered previously. We were able to leave some luggage, without charge, between visits (while we flew to Sandakan for 10 days). The rooms are a bit tired but the beds were comfortable, we had a kettle, tea ,coffee powdered milk sachets; there was plenty of hot water + free bottled water provided daily. Breakfast was extra - nothing exceptional but reasonably good value. Great location but sadly there was some building noise because it looks like a huge tall building is going up in front. We think this hotel is great value for money and would happily stay again.

great room. strategically located. next to a shopping mall. we received a very warm welcome from the bellman named 'earl'. his service is top notch! surely an asset to the hotel. check in was okay. stayed for 4 days. the 2nd day, (morning) i approached the front desk. i was asking for help, need them to type and print 'drop your business card'. just a simple request, i was willing to pay. the receptionist seem to take it as a 'heavy duty task' for them. the FO manager maria or marina is extremely rude. she said she will charge rm1 with bad intonation. she let a huge sigh while typing the simple sentence. she was reluctant to help us. with a grumpy look, she gave me the piece of paper and i gave her rm1. i said thankyou, she didn't even look at me. didn't say anything, she maybe felt like we were just burdening them. she has a bad temper, scolding her staff right in front of guest. i dont know how the management let her manage the front office with that attitude. i suggest the management to send her to a psychiatrist and check her mental state. she seems too angry and emotional. not suitable in the hospitality business. habibah the HK is super nice!

Poor service from FO Manager, she must thanked to her kindhearted staffs that gave tiptop service to us during 5 nights stayed thre.Because of their great service, we didnt check out on the second day. The FO manager, showed her anger to her staff while we were at counter seek for help. Special thanks to Earl,Kak Bibah and Olivia for their sincere to help us while we stayed thre.
