Redang Reef Resort

Unless you are Asian or a local in Malaysia, do NOT come to this place. The organisation is very poor, from the arrival to the departure. There is no flexibility at all to change anything and if you need any help the reception is almost never there. There is only 1 person speaking English and he is only working some hours. Everything (including during boat trips or snorkelling) is only in local language or Chinese, making it impossible for everyone else to understand. Same for food: no choice unless you are used to eat rice and fried chicken or soups from breakfast to dinner. Quality is very very low (there were insects and mosquitoes on every dish). I would not recommend to anyone. The rooms are dirty: blankets were dirty and there is only 1 towel per person, which doesn’t get change if you stay more than 1 night (as well as they don’t make the room). If you really want to come to Redang Island, look for any other place (on the same long beach EVERY other resort looked much better than this one) or at least opt for the breakfast only formula. You will likely not eat here and spend the money else where. Same for trips, they are 45’ in the morning and 45’ in the afternoon, very poor ones, absolutely not worth them. A very similar experience can be done for free from the long beach which is amazing and already full of beautiful fishes and corals.

It's a resort that's more known to the locals than the foreigners, and the staff is so friendly. It is local food for 2 nights and 3 days, but it was nice and had a good time without any inconvenience. Room and toilet. The shower bus is separate and it is convenient to use, the new building is clean and the beds are clean. It was nice to see a variety of fish and cauliflower from the sea in front of the resort and 100% rebooking when visiting Lesotho again.

A good location that is set on some rocks and has beaches with some reefs and different types of fishes and reef sharks. We can watch the sun rise. We have a quad premier room facing the sea and is a wooden chalet. It is very basic with a wooden floor and old wooden bed frames but the mattresses and linen are clean. Not very often, one can smell some sewerage which one needs to flush one’s toilet but the toilet door can stay closed. It is not luxurious by any standard but if you want something basic not swamping with too many people, the resort is ok. In particular, the food tastes good to me, There is enough variety but suited more to local tastes and not much Western biased food. We stayed there for four days and three nights and there was no repeat of the food menu. We have 4 meals a day including tea time. Our snorkelling stay package includes two complimentary snorkelling trips per day. The Marine park was a disappointment with many dying corals compared to what i saw some 25 years ago. Other snorkelling areas that we visited especially Pulau Lima have some healthy corals teeming with fishes. The optional turtle trip where one encounters four or five sea turtles swimming around you as they are fed was an enchanting experience. One can touch their backs. The staff serving food and those handling the boats are very friendly and helpful. The Malay diving guide who takes us diving who has a bit of a pony tail hanging at the back is quite funny and helpful in dragging those of us who cannot swim in a buoy to look at some corals.
