Just got back from an extended family vacation. I was happy to see that this hotel once again lived up to my expectations since my last visit in 2018. The staff works very hard to keep the hotel clean and welcoming. The service was great. Special thank you to Eduardo by the pool and Raul in the breakfast buffet for taking such good care of my family...all 16 of us! It is worth mentioning that the although the restaurants no longer take reservations, most of them were able to accommodate seating. The location of RIU Palace is great, except the view of the rocks is now blocked on a daily basis due to cruise ships. I'm sure it's the same for all the hotels in the area now.

We just returned from our wedding week at the Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas and I cannot say enough great things about it! Our wedding coordinator, Susana, was incredibly responsive, professional, and kind from the very beginning. We began planning the wedding about 14 months in advance, which provided lots of time to make decisions. She always responded to our emails quickly and thoroughly, and answered all of our questions so that we felt very comfortable by the time we arrived. The same goes for all of the other vendors. We were in communication with Liliana from Wedding Day Story, the photography company that is offered through the resort, well in advance of the wedding. I was able to send her a shot list and inspiration photos, the photographers on the day of the wedding had both and referred to them while going about the day. They were both absolutely amazing as well! We added extra decor from the decor company I Do, and they too were very responsive ahead of the wedding trip. Everything turned out exactly how we envisioned it. We had an aisle added from the bottom of the stairs on the beach to the altar so that I was able to wear my heels without any concern. They built it perfectly so that no one in the wedding party needed to touch the sand. The only thing was that it was a little bit difficult to navigate because the sand wasn’t completely flat but it was manageable. The decor at the ceremony and reception was just beautiful and the flowers really took it to the next level. Flowers are offered through Baja Flowers and I spoke with Alina in advance of the wedding to share my vision. They executed it perfectly and I couldn’t have been more impressed with how it turned out. The flower arch at the ceremony was absolutely stunning. We had hair and makeup done through Renova Spa. They did a great job on all of the hair and makeup and were very professional. I had a trial a few days before and only needed to make a few tweaks. The only thing I’d recommend is that with nine people, we should have started a bit earlier. We started at 8:30 with the goal to be done by 1:30 (we had 3 people going at one time) but the last bridesmaid didn’t finish until 3 which made the getting ready photos feel very rushed and a bit chaotic, but we did still get them. The resort itself is fantastic! Our friends and family really enjoyed. We brought a group of over 50 people and there was truly something for everyone. Staying at the Palace, you have access to the Santa Fe and the Baja California resorts. This was nice because the Santa Fe was more of a party resort and we were able to go over there if we wanted more of that vibe, or stay at our resort for quieter pools. The only issue we had was at check-in. Despite doing pre-check in we were placed in a line where it was evident the families ahead of us had not done it. Even after switching lines it took over 2 hours to check in. As the bride and groom, we were almost the very last to check in. Even once getting to the front desk, there was no mention of our wedding at all. We were feeling a little nervous after that, as we’d brought over 50 people to this resort that otherwise wouldn’t have come and felt we should have received a little bit more of a hospitable welcome. But, after that everything was perfect so we really did just brush that under the rug. July is incredibly hot in Cabo (even through its not their hottest month, which is August). The staff repeatedly commented that it was hotter than normal. We were definitely VERY hot during the ceremony, but thankfully we did cool down a bit for the reception which was excellent. I probably wouldn’t recommend getting married in July there to others just because of the heat at the ceremony, but for us it worked as we had many teacher friends in the group that wouldn’t have been able to come through the school year. On the last day, they sent room service to us. We also got a free couples massage which was wonderful. And they planned a private candlelit dinner on the gazebo for us the day after the wedding which was so nice. All in all we had a fantastic wedding and trip with our friends and family! It was really the trip of a lifetime for us. Thank you to all of the Riu Palace staff for making us feel so welcomed and celebrated!
