Del Norte

The location can't be beat. Especially for walking into Mexicali from Calexico. The restaurant at Hotel Norte is really good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The TV has many stations. Several in English. It's a close walk to Chinatown. And street vendors. I have stayed here several times. Thr AC works great.

It’s a nightmare! The pictures on their website and Facebook are deceiving and misleading. The room offered 2 queens and they gave us 2 twins, there are roaches in the cabinets, the Wi-Fi doesn’t work and kept going down. The scariest part is that someone was banging on our door since midnight, my kids were terrified! I tried calling the main lobby like 10 times, no answer! I tried emailing, messaged them on Facebook…nothing! We could have had gotten killed and these people would not do anything to help. At 5:30 am I just wanted to get my refund and leave, I went to the front desk and when I spoke with the receptionist he lied to me, he said he was knocking on my door to move my car meanwhile my car was parked right in front of my room not blocking anyone, he didn’t even know what type of car I had! Then he was saying that he needed an English interpreter after speaking to me in good English for 10 minutes. Hotels.com made this extremely difficult too to process the refund, they kept switching me around phone reps and spent over 1 hour and 30 minutes to get my full refund.

This hotel is close to an USA border and it is very convenient for the border passing. 3 OXXO shops are in a nearest location. Price is one of the cheapest among other hotels in Mexicali, but you will have the same quality of a service. We came to our room and explored dirty floor, towels, bedsheet. After our request to clean the room a local worker changed the bedsheet, towel, but we explored again, that another our bedsheet was dirty. She simply brought the dirty bedsheet from another bed and covered it on our bed. A restaurant food is poor. We couldn’t order cereals because of their absence in a fact, although the dish was in the restaurant menu. Other dishes are with a lot of bread and minimum of other ingredients. A room door is very poor and it will be better if you don’t leave your documents in your room. Walls, foot carpet, furniture are very old and dirty. I was upset, that I payed for all my staying period in Mexicali and couldn’t change hotel. Some photos of my room. Internet doesn’t work not only in rooms, but in a main area it is very, very slow.
