If the hotel has an incredible charm, the comfort was very limited, especially in cold times. Small electric heating, old-fashioned shower. Brrr

Not the worst hotel I've been to, but one of them. One member of staffs attitude was dreadful and ruined the stay. Other negative factors compounded the negativity. There had been a lot of noise throughout the evening from noisy guests and the receptionists kids hanging around obviously bored. Most of the small amount of rooms overlook reception and the courtyard and the noise was apparent to most in the hotel. At 2215 I complained to the receptionist about the majority of the noise coming from his kids persistently slamming doors, playing loud music and generally being noisy. He smiled at me and nodded and said Si senior. I waited to see what he did next and he didn't move. The kids were still making a racket. I asked him again. Si senior was the response, then nothing. I ask if he is going to do anything to stop the noise and I get a response on No Hablo. I take my phone out and wave it in the air and aim the camera him and say 'social media'. Oh boy, he definitely hablo that, so did the kids. They scarpered and he told me that if I took his photo he'd call the police. So much for not speaking English. In another amusing event at this hotel, one of our party broke one of the glasses in her room. The hotel charged her 30MXN for it. Laughably they originally said 25 too, but you know, rich white tourists are there to be taken advantage of, why not weasel an extra 5 pesos out of them? When we got our room key cards, which came in plastic sleeves too big to fit in people's phone cases, wallets, purses etc and a note saying that list key cards would be billed at 200MXN. I surprised they didn't try to bill you for flushing the toilet. The shower had an unusual opaque drain cover over the plughole. The shower wasn't draining, I had to pry the cover up with some tweezers. The plug bung had been pushed into the plug bung and hole was matted with hair. I was tempted to leave it for the maid in the morning, but I couldn't do that to her and I'd probably be charged for them having not cleaned my room in the first place. The hot water took about 5 mins to appear, it just ran cold and I could only tell which tap was hot from cold by the water pressure. Others in my party also confirmed they had the same problem. The WiFi was patchy and generally poor. The worst I've experienced in a hotel on this trip, 5 hotels so far. However there was some good points about this place. The location was convenient, the bed was comfy. They didn't give you bottles of water in your room but a hard plastic jug with a lid, and there was a water cooler in reception, less plastic waste, yes please. The breakfast was ok. That's about it though. These good points stopped it being a one star review

Nice hotel complex with lots of flowers in a central location, just 5 minutes walk to the cathedral. Rooms were quite small with a very small closet. There was no lift!! Breakfast was a mess, as guests from the nearby partner hotels probably still join in. So the first problem is finding a seat at all, the second problem is successfully fighting the battle at the buffet and the third problem is getting a coffee that is only served. Unfortunately, the buffet is not refilled everywhere, so not all guests get the same breakfast.
