My girlfriend and I chose Finca Hamburgo in Chiapas as a special destination to celebrate my birthday last weekend. Expecting a mix of relaxation and adventure, we were eager to explore everything the place had to offer, from its famous coffee tours to its spa services and culinary experiences. Restaurant Experience: Our culinary adventure at the Finca restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The quality of the food stood out, offering a range of flavors both satisfying and memorable. The prices were surprisingly reasonable, which was a nice bonus. However, we found the wine selection somewhat limited, which, while not a huge drawback, was notable for those who appreciate a wider range of options with their meals. Spa Services: The spa services, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. The lack of privacy was immediately apparent; We could easily see our neighbors and were interrupted by people coming in shouting greetings. Ambient noise from outside, including people walking and talking, further disrupted the tranquility typically associated with a spa. The staff did not consult us about our massage preferences beforehand and the undressing process was uncomfortably unguided. Additionally, the spa environment was uncomfortably warm with no fans to relieve the heat. Coffee Tour: A highlight of our visit was the coffee tour, which was truly exceptional. Despite being scheduled on a Sunday when certain experiences were not available, the tour remained a memorable part of our stay. One notable disappointment, however, was that our tour, which we were told would be private, was shared with a family and their children, who seemed uninterested, detracting from our experience. Transportation and Accessibility: Access to Finca Hamburgo presented significant challenges. The road, especially the section from Aargau to Hamburg, was in a deplorable state, composed mainly of rocks and sand, which made the journey uncomfortable and tedious. Accommodation: The room we stayed in had its ups and downs. On the plus side, it was spacious with a comfortable bed, which we appreciated after our long trip. However, the cleanliness of the room was not up to par, and it had a persistent and unpleasant smell. The lack of fans made the room uncomfortably warm, and poor soundproofing meant we could hear our neighbors as if they were in the same room. Staff and Service: The staff at Finca Hamburgo were commendable for their willingness to help and provide good service, although it was evident that their training did not align with what one might expect in a regular five-star hotel. His lack of English proficiency was not a major problem for us. An especially nice touch was the freshly brewed coffee that was delivered to our room in the morning. Environment and Surroundings: The natural environment of Finca Hamburgo was a true delight. The views were stunning, enriched by wonderful aromas, a variety of birds and a variety of beautiful plants and trees. This aspect of our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. General impression: Finca Hamburgo presents a mix of aspects. The social media presence and branding of the establishment create high expectations, which in some areas, such as the coffee and the natural environment, are well met. However, in other aspects, such as the spa experience and room quality, there is a noticeable gap between expectation and reality.
