First off, the staff of the hotel is the best ever...kind, accommodating, competent, patient with Spanish-language learners (me!). Just an excellent, excellent hotel staff. To boot, the hotel is a good overall value, and it is in El Centro without being in the midst of the area with the madding crowds (it's to the south and west of the main commercial district). The rooms are fairly basic, sparsely decorated...but CLEAN. The bathrooms could likely use some updating, particularly the shower stalls, but even they're passable...and lend the room some charm. Security could probably be improved, meaning that there should be a small safe in each room, or a functional larger safe behind the front desk that customers can keep things like passports and/or tablets and/or jewelry in. Another consideration should be to improve the pool area a bit -- put out some plastic lounge chaises, give the pool a dose of heat in winter, etc. I would likely stay again upon returning to Guadalajara.

Pro: It is pretty well located, a few blocks south of the Metro. Restaurant on site was good and prices reasonable. Con: Mattress was like a stack of cardboard with a sheet over it. The property needs some maintenance. I was shown to room 202, which had an open rusty hole where the tub spout should have been. They moved me to 505, whose door is right on the elevator lobby. That's okay, unless other guests talk loudly. The staff were a bit sullen. As Arlo Guthrie's song goes, "This train's got the disappearing railroad blues."

The worst room I have ever stayed at !! The pictures on the this website or other do not show what the actual room looks like. The bathroom was the most disgusting thing I have seen in any hotel or motel. The shower had a sliding door and at the base of the rail was months of mold, mud, fungus, pooled water. I do not believe anyone has ever cleaned this bathroom. It was so bad my children begged me not to make them take a shower because of the condition the room was in. I do not think I have done any justice in describing how bad it was, being that a picture is worth a thousand words I will post pictures.
