Starbay Suites Resort

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The staffs have disgusting attitudes, made me sick to my stomach. They are not very friendly at all. The AC unit doesnt work and there is no hot water. You’ve been warned!

I’m really confused about how this hotel has managed to get anything above 2 stars. The experience was horrible starting from the time I walked in, to the time we checked out. I booked this hotel for 2 nights.. for me to stay the night before my wedding and to have somewhere for me and my groomsmen to get ready right before the wedding. The day before the wedding, I walked in the hotel and decided not to stay the first night due to the appearance and bad upkeep around the lobby and pool area. The building looked under decorated and a bit abandoned. The next day during check-in, the lady at the front desk (I think she was the manager) was extremely rude. I explained to her that it was just going to be me staying at the hotel but that my groomsmen would be coming for about an hour or so to get ready before the wedding. She then very rudely said that no visitors were allowed. I couldn’t believe it. After 20 minutes of explaining that it would only be about an hour, she then let my groomsmen through. Very embarrassing. When we got to the room the A/C was not working, the furniture were super outdated and had an old and badly maintained feel. I decided to stay elsewhere for that night as well.

We stayed at the Starbay for 4 nights early November. We were the only guests there as it was early in the season. The location and views are 5 star, but the rooms need updating. A few pictures and ornaments inside would have made it feel more homey. We arrived after dark and asked the front desk for purified water. We were told we had to walk across a busy highway to the OXXO store for water. It would have been nice to be able to purchase some water in the Hotel. Violetta and Alex at the front desk were extremely helpful with information and getting a taxi. The restaurant on the property is nice and we thank Jesus and Fernando for their good service. The pool is lovely and Carlos does a good job keeping things clean. There is an event center that caters weddings next door. The first night the music was loud but other nights there was nothing going on. Bucerias is a short walk along the beach. Sunsets are incredible.
