Grand old hotel with gorgeous lobby. Rooms are a little plain but clean and comfortable. The location is downtown and has lots of restaurants and bars around. Unfortunately the surrounding area is littered with trash and in need of repair and updates.

The hotel in general offers a good experience for its history, architecture, location and proximity to the macroplaza and the old quarter of Monterrey as you can walk around the main tourist places of that area with a lot of security. On the other hand, the cleanliness of the rooms is adequate as well as the comfort of bed and pillows, only you could hear a lot of noise from the next room as it was connected with a door. As for other aspects to improve, the area that is a little neglected is the pool as the water was a little dirty, there were no towels available and they took a long time to bring them. In addition, the elevators were presenting some faults and the day of checkout we had to go down the stairs from floor 5. Overall, the hotel is suitable and worth knowing, the lobby area and restaurant transports you to another time.

I had a very disappointing experience at Gamma Monterrey Ancira during the Ironman 70.3 Monterrey weekend.
The hotel was clearly aware that more than 85% of its occupancy was related to the event, yet the service and organization were extremely poor. The internet and phone service did not work properly throughout our stay, which is unacceptable—especially during a major international event when guests need reliable communication.
Additionally, during dinner, room service did not have several items listed on the menu available. After a long day of travel and race preparation, this was extremely frustrating and reflected poor planning, especially knowing the hotel was nearly full due to the event.
To make matters worse, the hotel did not offer early breakfast accommodations on the morning of the race. For an event like Ironman 70.3, where athletes must leave very early, providing at least a basic early breakfast option should be standard practice. The lack of planning and consideration for guests participating in the event was very disappointing.
Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, particularly given the importance of the weekend for so many guests. I would not recommend staying here during major events unless significant improvements are made.
