historic hotel right in the center of old Puebla. Room was large with 15 ft ceilings. Had a safe but no fridge. Their elevator is the oldest still working one in Mexico. Nice hotel. No air conditioning though.

Hemos visitado Mexico muchas veces de los Estados Unidos, empezando en 1959, y el Hotel Colonial en el puro Centro de Puebla es el mejor de todos los otros. Es el más limpio, con lo más amable personas trabajando en la oficina y trabajando en la restaurante que hemos encontrado. Es el único hotel en que yo no encontré una sola cosa que no me gusto. Y mi esposa dijo que este hotel es lo más limpio de las otras docenas de hoteles de su experiencia. Las habitaciones son grandes, con techos muy altas, y un sentido histórico por todo. Fue construido hace más de tres siglos, mantenido muy bien, y reforzado reciamente por sismos. Sentíamos muy seguro por cualquier razones adentro y afuera. Este hotel tiene mis más fuertes recomendaciones a todas visitantes de todas las ciudades de Mexico, y de visitantes de otros países de las Americas y de Europa. My wife and I have visited Mexico many times, beginning in 1959, from Chihuahua to Yucatan and Oaxaca. We appreciated the Hotel Colonial in Puebla more than any other. Let me mention why. It is the cleanest hotel we have stayed in, out of all the others, noted my wife. I loved the historic importance of the structure, as it was built over 3 centuries ago, and remodeled inside thoroughly rather recently. The rooms are spacious not only horizontally, but vertically. The ceiling in our room was some 20 feet high. The staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The dining room provided the best food that I have had in recent years. The location is excellent. It is easy walking distance to historic sites such as churches and museums. The Amparo museum is outstanding, and the Capilla de Rosario is the most Baroque chapel I have ever seen. I heartily recommend it to travelers from other Mexican cities, as well as travelers from other countries.

Historic hotel near the center. Ex convent converted to a hotel with all the idiosyncrasies of it when you try to find your room. Quite spectacular, though. Also, do not miss going up to the extensive roof top terraces
