If you don't find a place in the village it's a good compromise. Now that there are mega works at the archaeological site many hotels are always full. If you do not have your own car too, however it is a bit uncomfortable because the village is about 2km walk (30 min) along the state road. There is a kind of bike path, but still in the dark in the evening it is not the best to have a thousand chalk trucks that touch you a short distance.
The rooms are simple and clean enough, know that in the area there is no water for the houses, here you have a swimming pool!
The wifi exists but is not very stable and you only take it at the entrance to the common area, not in your room. Even the phone doesn't pick up very well.
There is a restaurant but we haven’t tried it, the staff is very nice anyway

It was comfortable. As other reviewers mentioned they do seem to have many issues. We ran out of tap water in the morning. They had no wine, no choice in beer, many items missing off of the menu. On the other hand they cooled out beer & wine without a fuss. Wifi worked just fine in the lobby area. The children enjoyed the pool. It worked just as a a pitstop on the road to the bats & calakmul.

This fairly large establishment is not old, but slightly deteriorated and quite isolated. The rooms are large and comfortable with local antenna TV. It's certainly a quiet and tranquil place, perhaps the economical location closest to Calacmul.
