For the first time ever I as a avid contributor to Trip Advisor and several other travel sites have never felt the need to give a Hotel a Zero. Today...is that day. I booked this hotel very last minute due to a cancellation in my return flight home. Like a fool I chose the property because of the price of $115usd a night. I figured I only was staying for a night so something safe and clean at a discount price was best. From the moment I arrived I knew I made a mistake. Upon my arrival to the hotel by taxi the surrounding area is under construction but a lot of new properties and modern looks. This place looked abandoned from the outside street view! Note...I checked on TA first and the most recent photos did look great....At the security gate a small woman used a manual lift that was beyond outdated and rusted to let us in. Made our way to the lobby where the outside glass was cloudy and clearly dirty. No greeting the entry, doorman etc. just a small desk and an attendant at a computer. The odor in the hotel is STRONG! Smells old and like an abundance of mildew.
At the front desk I arrived at 12:48pm. I was informed that the room wasn't ready until 3pm...But there was a room available that was ready for a $10usd per hour early check in charge of $30 +$5 tax. Sighhhhhh....Here we go. Paid the fee...was given a small metal key...went up to my room. Opened the door...room was large. Everything and I mean Everything is old. The odor of mildew is still lingering. Sofa old. All the furniture is old. TV was big and flat screen. The small fridge was empty. No water, no teas, nothing. Bathroom faucets etc, old and rusty. The bathtub and shower looked used in months. The room safe was rusted and had no lock. On the balcony the wood was old and chipped. The Jacuzzi was old, had a chipped interior, didn't work and was rusted at the faucet. You couldn't pay me to sit in there. The best part is the view of the ocean. At some point I took a shower and the water took a long time to get hot. I used the sink to brush my teeth and the bottom of the sinks pipe shot off and nasty water went everywhere. I called the front desk to help clean up the smelly water that had dark bits in it and that's when I discovered an open panel in the bathroom that literally was big enough for a person to fit in. I didn't feel safe. The balcony door was broken as well so anyone can have access to your room. Let's talk about the outside property. It's evident that this place needs maintenance but the extent to which they do is unbelievable. From the outside view looking at the building so much deteriorating parts of the building will be seen. Exposed light fixtures, missing light bulbs, chilled paint, broken stone, almost all the room jacuzzis are old and damaged, the pool is cloudy and looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in months.
Back in the hotel I requested a room change. I was given a new room on the main floor. Same deal. The room was so outdated, the smell was even more foul. I was hesitant to sleep in bed..I tried but felt like...well ya know. All in all I don't recommend ANYONE stay here. In fact this place in my opinion should be closed for a full renovation or closed completely. It's clear this property is on its last leg. I just haven't been this disappointed and disgusted in years. This is a 1 star hotel and that's being generous. I've seen pics of this place from a decade back ..I understand what probably once was....but someone let this place go...that time is over.
