Hotel Barracuda

I was recommend this hotel by a friend, decided to give it a shot. I wanted badly to like it however the overall stay ended up being not good at all. On my first day my toilet broke and I found a giant cockroach in my room. They moved me rooms after that first night (the bed was terribly hard too), in my second room all the hardware in the room was rusted, including the locks on the doors. The bed was slightly better. There’s no WiFi except in the lobby but you can get WiFi from No Name Bar next door—however, when they close so does your connection. In my second room I found another cockroach and told the night employee who came to remove it but just dumped in the the trash outside of my room . When I asked to speak with the manager they told me they fumigated that day, and tried to blame the weather for it. I go to Cozumel a lot, stay at a lot of budget places and have never seen this happen. After speaking to the manager they gave me a voucher for a free day there. #1, I was only staying a week and had a flight, #2 a free night at a hotel with bugs is not my idea of fun. It was loud during the day with the bar next door but it was fine at night. All the rooms face the ocean. The hot water was mostly good, there was a fridge in the room. No safe. And due to the rust on the lock my balcony door didn’t lock. The bar next door has very friendly staff and the pool was nice and clean. There’s a place you can jump off into the ocean. The water is beautiful of course. Location is good for any in-town activities, Rock N Java or Jenines for breakfast is convenient. Won’t stay here again, they were friendly until there was a problem then not so much. The two stars is for the pool and the convenience.

Every day there were at least two huge palmetto roaches in you room. They come up from the drain in the shower. My son was showering and one came flying through the shower stall while he was taking a shower - gross. I found another crawling through my clothing I had folded and placed on the shelf. The music from the pool area is so loud you cannot retreat to your room balcony for relaxation. Strong party all day vibe. There is also nothing here for children. No changing table in the ladies room, and no child seats for dining. No elevator or luggage porter here either. Carry your luggage up three (3) flights of stairs!

The Wi-Fi connection wasn’t strong in our room, which was inconvenient. On the positive side, the resort grounds were immaculate and beautifully maintained
