The Catalonia hotel is a good hotel, but, nevertheless, the people there are not pleasant (the guests in general). The pool, whether Privilege, standard, or Exclusive, is full of drunks and is crowded; you can't get into the pool because it's full of people and it looks like a toad pond.
Regarding the beach, another important topic: you can just forget about it because it is all rock (it doesn't look like the Caribbean at all), although there is a good beach called Chac Mool, which is fine, but the one at the hotel is impossible to get into because there is no sand, it is just rock.
The buffet, another interesting topic: it looks like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, everyone cutting in line as if a wild boar were behind you to eat you, and the food is average to low quality.
The restaurants, nothing special, except for the Japanese one, which is average. The best part is the show they put on at the teppanyaki, but the Italian one was pure frozen food and the pizza seemed like it was brought from Antarctica, industrial (don't go).
The service, in general, is a tad slow, but like everywhere in Mexico, except for a few who do it very well.
It is in an area without much atmosphere. It looks like Puerto Aventuras; at 9:00 PM it looks like a vampire cave with lights (empty).
The golf and tennis are fine if you want to enter an environment similar to a barbecue or a wood-fired oven: you roast, and the golf is like a dry chicken, without any charm and blander than an ant's nest.
To play sports, also forget about it because there is none of that, just a gym and two courts, but only for those over 18 years old. These two facilities are not bad.
The rooms, just enough, but fine for surviving an apocalypse.
The shows, crowded; it looks like a lion's den with only one piece of ribeye.
In general, it is a hotel that is fine if you want to be like cattle all day in a pigsty full of drunk people and with an atmosphere leaning toward public restrooms after an after-party or during a massive festival like Los Monegros in the middle of summer.
If you want to spend some quiet time with your family, this is NOT your destination.
With all due respect, thank you very much.

The hotel has disappointed us a lot. We traveled with two children and some friends, all of whom had children. My rating is poor in general. Totally disappointing. Hotel with unclean common facilities, pools with cloudy water, very crowded, the beach area is very small and full of sargassum, with a very bad smell. Impossible to make use of it. Room with barely any lighting and quite old. The staff was not very empathetic and not at all helpful when reporting any incident to them. Buffet was okay. The gym was fine, but my 14-year-old son could not even enter, not even accompanied by his parents. The Kids Club area was pathetic to look at, dirty, very messy, and not at all appealing for leaving the little ones there. I do not recommend it at all. In our case, it was a high expense for a family of 4 and it ruined our vacation. It was better for us to be out of the hotel going on excursions. It is better not to go if you want to enjoy a hotel and its facilities.
