Best Western Hotel Del Rio

Our experience in this hotel was absolutely terrifying, and honestly, I do not recommend it to any family. After driving for hours, we arrived exhausted at the hotel that night, hoping to rest with our two small children. Instead, we had a frightening experience. Approximately at 4:25 AM, a stranger attempted to open the door to our room. Fortunately, my husband had put on the security chain, because the person managed to partially open the door. We got up terrified. My husband ran to close the door while the man tried to open it for the second time. I approached the window to see who it was, and the man was showing me a room key. I asked him to go immediately to the front desk. At that moment, we discovered something even more alarming: the room phone was NOT WORKING and had no dial tone to call the front desk in an emergency. I had to call from my personal cell phone. The receptionist completely minimized the situation, saying that the guest "had made a mistake with the room" and that they were having problems with the key system. How is it possible for a hotel to give out the wrong keys to another guest? And what would have happened if we hadn't put on the security chain? After that, it was impossible to sleep. We were exhausted from the trip, but we had to stay awake out of fear and to protect our children. Only terrifying questions ran through our minds: were we going to be robbed?, were we going to be hurt?, what was really happening? The next morning, after breakfast, our key stopped working again. The cleaning lady opened the door for us with her master key, and upon hearing what had happened, she went to ask at the front desk. It was she who informed us that the receptionist from the night before was new and had given our room key to another guest. The most outrageous thing is that we NEVER received an apology from the manager or any serious attempt to resolve the situation. No professional explanation, no compensation, nothing. Only excuses from the receptionist that morning. We decided to stay only because the other hotel we wanted no longer had available rooms with two beds for our family. The security at this hotel is a disaster. If you are traveling with family or children, think twice before staying here.

It was a good overall stay! Breakfast was included at the restaurant on site. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay there again. We stayed for one week. We had our laundry done by the staff before we left. They did a nice job. It was a little expensive but worth it.

Last night was our first night staying here, and we would definitely stay here again. The grounds are lovely, the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and cool, and the restaurant serves good food. The complimentary breakfast was just enough--fruit, yogurt, buttered toast, and coffee--to get you back on the road again. You park right outside your room door, so you can keep watch on your vehicle. We had a room in the back, and it was quiet except for occasional noise from the highway. Overall a very pleasant stay.
