Hotel Meson del Mar

The port is the heart of Veracruz and Meson del Mar, by its very name - Inn by the Sea let's say - is in the greatest location for experiencing that powerful confluence of ocean liners, white-clad dancers and colonial hospitality as found in the excellent colonial furnishing of the rooms, many with mezzanine apartments, and smoothly run by Nohemi and her staff. Add mezzanine level ventilators, a breakfast and dining area, even a book nook, and couldn't be better. Suggestions based only on the existing pleasue of staying here Stay here!

We visited here two years ago and decided to return. The colors were changed in the lobby. But, Nohemi’s smiling face and kindness was still there as before! We stayed in room 217 which had a king bed on the first floor and a queen on the second floor. While the bathroom is small, the trade off of the king bed was worth the extra pesos. Rosie, the lady who attended to our room, was magnificent. She was extremely attentive to details. Of course, Nohemi was incredibly attentive as she was on our last trip. We just love this place. Lots of history in he centre of the historic district.

When we walked in, Ithought I had made a mistake in trying to be economical. The lobby/reception area of this hotel is not impressive. However, when they showed us our room I was relieved. Very nice, clean, AC, good internet. Some have commented that the bathrooms are very small but we found ours to be fine for us. The staff was friendly, though perhaps a bit unorganized--didn't seem to be quite ready for us. We were only there for one night, so my experience is limited. I would be fine going there again.
