We live on the coast, in Playa del Carmen, and have to travel to Merida often for conventions. We need to stay in this area of the city and have often stayed at the Siete suites. It's great for us as it has a little kitchenette which saves us money on restaurants when we are on a budget. You can walk across the street to a big mall with many restaurants and shopping if you like. It's always clean and they've always helped us. Once in awhile the hot water goes out, but mostly we've had no problems. Ask to stay upstairs as the downstairs rooms have no windows. There is an oxxo right below it too so you can pick up ice and other last minute needs.
