This hotel is truly spectacular. From the moment you arrive, you feel an incredible sense of tranquility and connection with nature. It’s the perfect place to relax and disconnect from the noise of everyday life. The rooms are impeccable, very clean, spacious, and beautifully maintained. Every detail makes your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The staff’s attention is wonderful; they are always kind, helpful, and make you feel welcome at all times. This place has become our favorite destination, and we will definitely return.

The feeling is... twofold. On the one hand, one can only be seduced by the Hollywood heritage of the 1930s. The architecture is beautiful, full of history, and the place exudes a unique atmosphere. The gardens are simply exceptional, almost botanical, with sublime corners scattered throughout the property. We understand why the place has become mythical. The staff is very friendly and professional. Many thanks in particular to Ariella and Robert, really caring and efficient. But on the other hand, we feel a lot of improvisation. Some spaces are poorly maintained or even abandoned. Many aging details and broken elements everywhere give a feeling of let-go that contrasts with the expected standing. At breakfast, some waiters don’t even bother to say hello and lay the plates on the table without a word — a disappointing attitude in an establishment of this level. Small tip: the rooms in the main building are decent, but we definitely preferred those around the second pool, in the cottages. They are more pleasant, more intimate and more in line with the spirit of the place. In short, an iconic hotel with undeniable charm, but which would benefit from being more neat and homogeneous in its service.

This is a special place. Built in 1923 within the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza, it used to have its own private, direct access to the site. Since Covid this entrance has been closed. They do need to be more clear about this on their web-page and advertising. Irregardless - you must stay here. It is enchanting. You stay here for the history. If you are driving your own rental this is perfect. We stayed in the hotel with a wonderful balcony overlooking the back. Losing their private entrance has caused a decline in the number of guests. We really enjoyed the introduction to Chichen Itza they had in English at the replica of the observatory on the grounds. View it your first night. Their restaurant is great and the staff so nice. We stayed 3 nights and the morning we left we had a traditional Tezmacal cleansing sauna - you have to read about it! It is free. This is a gem of a bygone era - it needs a lot upkeep - they do the best they can. I pray their private entrance opens again to bring back their former grandeur. The only downside - and it is big - is no drinking water provided - none - not even in the rooms. You have to buy bottles - you have to beg to get yours refilled. They need to change this. You will truly feel the magic of Chichen Itza if you stay here.
