The reason we chose this hotel was because it’s right by the entrance to the archaeological site, which we visited from it with Jorge Mex, an excellent English-speaking guide arranged by the hotel. We visited the site shortly after 8am (when it opens) and were able to get round without crowds. We were fortunate to visit on a cloudy day, so even when we left later in the morning, it was not too hot. The hotel was very nice and most of the staff spoke at least some English. Breakfast was satisfactory, including freshly cooked eggs. There is nowhere else to eat within walking distance, so we ate in the hotel restaurant on both nights of our stay. There was a problem with our first dinner, for which we had pre-ordered fish that they failed to keep for us. As we do not eat meat, we had to have a (very ordinary) vegetarian pasta. The restaurant manager did apologise and gave us free glasses of wine. He also assured us that we would get the fish next evening, which we did - and it was delicious!

The hotel is located next to the Maya history of Uxmal. A hotel that looks great when you drive up and that it is. Welcoming reception. Beautiful spacious and clean rooms with a view of the courtyard garden with swimming pool. The cots need replacing, by the way. It was quiet when we came and had a drink in the beautiful open restaurant and also in the evening we ate fine with great service. The breakfast was really disappointing and that is probably caused because large groups stay, have breakfast and leave again. If the breakfast was normally good we would have liked to have given it 5 stars
